Guangdong on the Road | Nigeria: "The mode of Guangdong" in Africa's largest economy

Through the "Guangdong on the Road" series, GDToday joins hands with global reporters and sheds light on Guangdong's partnership under the Belt and Road Initiative.

As the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria has been undergoing industry transformation and upgrading in recent years by encouraging foreign enterprises to establish factories in Nigeria.

In the state of Ogun, there is a free trade zone operated by New South, a Guangzhou company.

According to Huang Hui, General Manager of Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone, more than 110 enterprises (factories) have settled in the free trade zone and the total volume of import and export has reached over 300 million US dollars.

"We are inspired by the Guangdong Model of reform and opening up. We utilize local raw materials to process goods and sell them to the world from Nigeria," said Huang.

"The free trade zone can now create more than 15,000 job opportunities directly or indirectly for the local people," Huang added.

In this episode, reporters from GDToday and Nigerian Television Authority explore together the effectiveness of "the Guangdong Model" in Africa's largest economy.
