Today (July 23) marks the beginning of Major Heat.
Major Heat (Chinese: 大暑) is the 12th solar term of the year and the last one of summer. When the sun reaches the celestial longitude of 120°, the Major Heat period starts. Major Heat signals the peak of the heat, and it's the muggiest period of the year.
Falling at the end of July, Major Heat is a special period. Senior high school entrance examination, college entrance examination, graduation... Almost all significant life transitions around adulthood occur during this time. We, young people, always expect a more promising future at the end of summer.
