On January 25, the Huangmao Sea Channel project completed the construction of all segmental girders and entered the final stage of steel box girder installation.
The Channel consists of 2,270 segmental girders, spanning across the east and west approach bridges. Each segmental girder can be lifted as high as 62 meters, and a single girder has a maximum weight of nearly 200 tons.
The east approach bridge starts from the main line bridge of the Gaolan Port interchange and ends at the Gaolan Port Bridge, with a total length of 1,080 meters. The west approach bridge starts from the Huangmao Sea Bridge and ends at the shoal area, stretching 3,120 meters.
So far, the Channel has entered the construction stage of installing the steel box girders. When the entire line opens to traffic, it will reduce the travel time from Zhuhai to Jiangmen and western Guangdong by approximately 30 minutes.
