Launching Ceremony of SpiceJet's Guangzhou-Delhi Flight

A new air route connecting Guangzhou with Indian capital of Delhi will launch on Feb 8.

The route is launched by SpiceJet, India’s most preferred low cost airline. The fares begin at 999 RMB (8,888 INR) one-way, which includes taxes and surcharges but no meals. Now the tickets can be booked through the company’s offical website.

SpiceJet’s Guangzhou-Delhi route will fly four days a week. The Delhi-to-Guangzhou flight SG081 will leave on Monday, Wendesday, Friday and Sunday at 17:20 for arrival into Guangzhou at 0:35. The Guangzhou-to-Delhi flight SG082 will leave on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Monday at 1:55 for arrival into Delhi at 5:55 (All are local times). SpiceJet operate 189-seater Boeing 737 NG aircraft on this route.

SpiceJet CEO Mr. Neil Mills said, the flight offers the air connectivity at very affordable fare to the passengers from India and China. The service also reiterates growing economic interest between two of world’s largest economies.

Mr. K. Nagaraj Naidu, Consul General of India in Guangzhou, said China is now India’s largest trading partner. And Guangdong has the largest community of Indians, over 30,000 Indians live in Guangdong. He would like to see more Chinese people visiting India.

Southern Airline had launched Guangzhou-Delhi route as early as 2007, currently offering 10 flights per week. Tan Ping, Vice President of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co., Ltd. & Director of Aviation Marketing Department, said the SpiceJet route will offer passengers more choices and push forward the healthy competition between airlines.

She expects the route will have about 50,000 to 60,000 OD passengers (origin and destination passengers). And as every year there are 4 million passengers travelling between South Asia and North America. The route might bring 200,000 to 300,000 passengers to transfer at Baiyun Airport every year.
