Southern Airline had launched Guangzhou-Delhi route as early as 2007, currently offering 10 flights per week. Tan Ping, Vice President of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co., Ltd. & Director of Aviation Marketing Department, said the SpiceJet route will offer passengers more choices and push forward the healthy competition between airlines.

She expects the route will have about 50,000 to 60,000 OD passengers (origin and destination passengers). And as every year there are 4 million passengers travelling between South Asia and North America. The route might bring 200,000 to 300,000 passengers to transfer at Baiyun Airport every year.
