Guangzhou to unveil a burst of cultural, tourism activities in May

With the May Day holiday, which coincides with the third phase of the 135th Canton Fair, around the corner, Guangzhou is set to launch over 1,800 diverse cultural and tourism activities to welcome domestic and international visitors.

The city has also specifically introduced 100 premium travel routes for the forthcoming holiday, encompassing 10 themes and covering 95 A-grade scenic spots, according to a press conference on April 23.

During the holiday, various scenic areas will roll out special events along with successive promotional ticketing benefits. For instance, the Pearl River Cruise companies will host themed voyages featuring song and dance performances and comedic shows. The animal flash mob event will take place at Grandview Mall; Baomo Garden will celebrate the Lotus Tourism and Culture Festival; the Nansha Tianhou Palace will host the 16th Nansha Mazu Culture and Tourism Festival, accompanied by immersive experiences like themed light and shadow shows.

Moreover, travel agencies in Guangzhou will introduce bespoke rural tour routes, featuring activities like flower viewing, agricultural harvesting, pastoral scenery, folk experiences, and family leisure. Ethnic and rural communities are also prepared with a rich array of holiday activities. For example, the Dehe Yuan Ethnic Cultural Village in Tianhe District will showcase Hani ethnic group customs, and the EHang Flight Base in Conghua District offers experiences like hang gliding, paragliding, and hot air ballooning.

Hotels and B&B will also launch numerous exciting activities during the holiday. Yunling Yuejian B&B in Conghua will host a Rural Gourmet Festival, and Moniang's Home B&B in Nansha has prepared a variety of programs, including Yingge dances and martial arts performances.

In addition, Guangzhou will also offer more than 1,000 exhibitions, handicraft experiences, and other public cultural activities. Over 120 spectacular performances, including the puppet show "True and False Monkey King," the original opera "Marco Polo," "The Nutcracker" and "Swan Lake" by the Russian State Ballet are scheduled to enchant residents and visitors alike.
