Shenzhen is among 16 mainland cities added to the list of mainland destinations for cross-Straits direct charter flights, according to an agreement signed on Nov.4.

The Shekou, Yantian, Chiwan and Mawan ports were also listed among 63 mainland seaports to be allowed to operate direct cargo shipments to 11 Taiwan seaports, according to another agreement.

Shenzhen Airlines said earlier that it was expected to operate direct charter flights to Taipei on weekends and weekdays. It has yet to decide on the schedules and fares for its Taipei flights.

Currently only Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen and Nanjing have weekend charter flights to the island.
