Shenzhen would be an ideal partner for Berlin in the development of its creative industry, the mayor of the German city said in a meeting with a Shenzhen delegation in Berlin on May 9.
Berlin Mayor Harald Wolf said he was impressed by how well the previous three editions of the International Cultural Industry Fairs (ICIF) were organized, and believed his city had a promising future in the creative industry if it was partnered by Shenzhen.
Wolf made the remarks when meeting with the Shenzhen delegation headed by Xuan Zhuxi, director of ICIF Conference Center and vice director of the Publicity Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC, who is on an ICIF promotion tour in Europe.
Wolf said he would attend the Fourth ICIF, scheduled to open Friday in Shenzhen, with a 20-member delegation. He said he would meet with local government officials to discuss cooperation details, paving the way for establishing a partnership.
"I am very interested in establishing links and sharing ideas in culture between the two cities in the creative industries," the mayor said.
Wolf attributed the fast regeneration of Berlin, which had been devastated by World War II, to its creative industries. The city attracted many young designers and artists from around the world.
Berlin was named a City of Design by UNESCO in 2006.
