Guangdong faces unpredictable thunderstorms over coming days

A continuation of unpredictable weather patterns is forecasted for Guangdong in the coming days, according to the provincial meteorological service.

The majority of Guangdong is predicted to have a mixture of sunny skies and intermittent clouds, with scattered thundershowers. Some areas are expected to experience particularly intense rainfall, accompanied by strong convective weather phenomena such as short bursts of heavy precipitation and gale-force winds.

On May 8, the southern Pearl River Delta and western Guangdong are likely to experience cloudy to overcast skies, with moderate to heavy thundershowers and localized severe rainfall. Other parts of the province are expected to have a mix of cloudy and sunny weather, interspersed with scattered thundershowers.

On May 9, the western Pearl River Delta and western Guangdong are anticipated to witness cloudy to sunny skies punctuated by thundershowers, with localized heavy or torrential downpours. The weather in remaining areas will be cloudy and sunny with occasional thundershowers.

From May 10 to 11, northern Guangdong and the northern Pearl River Delta are forecasted to experience cloudy skies with moderate thundershowers, and localized heavy rain. Other parts of the province are predicted to have cloudy weather with scattered thundershowers and occasional heavy rain.

From May 12 onwards, the central and northern regions of the province will once again face a systematic process of heavier rainfall. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and continue to implement necessary preventative measures.
