Guangzhou tax revenue totals RMB 258.22 billion

Last year, the Guangzhou National Taxation Bureau collected a total of RMB 258.22 billion in taxes, up 1.82% over the previous year. Domestic taxes amounted to MB 178.07 billion, an increase of 9.07% or RMB 14.81 billion. Customs duties totaled RMB 80.15 billion yuan, a decrease of 11.28% or RMB 10.19 billion. With the taxes and duties, Guangzhou had disposable income of RMB 36.61 billion last year.

According to taxation officials, Guangzhou's tax revenues remained flat in the first half of last year but surged in the second half. As a result of the replacement of business tax with VAT, domestic VATs surged 16.64%.

By industry, the automotive industry experienced a strong rebound, while commerce remained steady. Emerging industries such as software information, business services, electronics and pharmaceuticals grew robustly, while crude oil, cigarette manufacturing, petrochemicals and financial industries showed signs of decline.

By district, Panyu, Haizhu, Baiyun and Zengcheng enjoyed the largest increase in revenues, narrowing the gap with Yuexiu, Liwan, Tianhe, Huangpu, the Guangzhou Development District, Huadu and Nansha, where tax revenues exceeded RMB 10 billion.
