ASEAN business delegates visit Guangzhou professional markets to explore more opportunities

On April 25, the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau and the Guangzhou Professional Wholesale Market Chamber of Commerce held "The Professional Market Business Tour in Guangzhou", inviting business organizations and enterprises from ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore to visit the city's professional markets: Guangzhou Baima Garment Market and OneLink Plaza, with a view to helping them expand their business opportunities.

The ongoing 135th Canton Fair is held between April 15 and May 5. From April 23 to 27, the second phase of the fair, under the theme of "Quality Home Life", focuses on professional sectors for household goods, gifts, decorations, building materials, and furniture. The third phase, to be held from May 1 to 5, will showcase toys, office supplies, fashion accessories, and fittings, among other products.

In line with the themes of the Canton Fair, the event organizers conducted a survey of the professional markets' needs for foreign trade in sectors such as clothing, gift decorations, toys, and other industries. They also visited some overseas business institutions in Guangzhou before holding this event.

The event invited representatives of more than ten business organizations and companies from three ASEAN countries to conduct on-site business negotiations in the two professional markets.

According to an official from the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau, they hope to take advantage of the opportunity of the Canton Fair to familiarize overseas business people with Guangzhou and showcase the city's strong supply capabilities in various industrial clusters.

This event also provides a chance for more small and medium-sized market entities to expand new business opportunities and establish long-term cooperation with overseas buyers at the Canton Fair. It aims to strengthen mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation between Guangzhou and ASEAN countries, as well as other countries and regions.

Guangzhou and ASEAN countries have established strong trade cooperation. In 2024, the total value of import and export  between Guangzhou and ASEAN countries reached 23.87 billion yuan (3.29 billion USD), seeing a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent.  Guangzhou's exports to ASEAN hit 13.558 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 23.5 percent.
