Shenzhen's transportation commission is inviting 12 residents to a Dec. 28 hearing about the implementation of roadside parking fees, the commission announced Wednesday.

The hearing will be from 2:30 to 6 p.m. in the meeting room on the third floor of the commission’s office building at 16 Zizhu Road 7, Zhuzilin, Futian District.

The commission also is inviting eight other residents to observe the hearing. Applicants are required to register at the reception room on the first floor of the official building before Wednesday.

Shenzhen transportation officials intend to start collecting roadside parking fees next year. Fees will first be piloted in southern areas of Futian’s CBD, Nanshan’s CBD, the Zhuzilin area in Futian and the Tianbei area in Luohu District.

The number of vehicles registered in Shenzhen has exceeded 2.5 million. The number of roadside parking spots that require payments is expected to reach 12,000 in 2014 and 32,000 in 2015.
