Specialty food, beverage and hospitality from 15 countries! The Food Hospitality World China 2013 was opened in Guangzhou on Thursday (Sept. 12).

According to the organizer, Worldex and Fiera Milano Group, this is their second exhibition in China. The fair will last three days in Pazhou Import and Export Fair Complex.

British Consulate-General in Guangzhou held a traditional English afternoon tea introduction on Thursday afternoon, and all the tea sets used on the show are from Wedgwood, a brand used by the British royalty.

Alastair Morgan, British CG in Guangzhou, hoped that after having this event here, more people will be encouraged to visit the UK, and he also recommended people who will visit Britain going to the traditional tearooms in London to enjoy an English afternoon tea.

China became the fastest growing market importing British food and agricultural products in 2011. English snacks, like chocolate and sweet biscuit which Chinese people prefer to buy, saw a trade boom of 85.9%, according to FDEA (The Food & Drink Exporters Association).

“We believe that the potential to introduce more excellent British brands in China’s market is very high,” said Mr. Morgan. “We hope to have more British brands in shops here in Guangzhou, as a result of this exhibition.” (By Yan & Ke Xiaoting)
