Dongguan signs RMB 860m contract for 20 metro trains

Dongguan Rail Transit Company, which is overseeing construction of the Dongguan Metro in Guangdong, China, has awarded CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Company a RMB 860m ($US 135m) contract to supply 20 six-car metro trains. The new trains will be operated on the 37.7km first section of Line R2 of the metro, which is currently under construction and is due to open in 2015.

The trains will have capacity for 1200 passengers and a top operating speed of 120km/h providing a journey time of 40 minutes on the line which will have 14 stations and run from Shilong to Humen Coach Terminal. The trains will operate at an average speed of 55km/h.
