The 6th East Guangdong Overseas Chinese Expo is about to be staged in Chaozhou on October 27, highlighting investment project signing ceremony and Chaoshan cultural feast.
More than 10 investment projects in Shantou, Shanwei, Jieyang and Chaozhou in East Guangdong will be signed at the opening ceremony of the Expo, with an investment of over 10 billion yuan, said Lu Chunjie, Mayor of Chaozhou in the press conference held on October 10. This year, the host city Chaozhou will also organize promotion meetings on investment environment, high-tech investment projects, energy projects, infrastructure projects, public service projects, etc.
As Chaoshan culture is widely spread in East Guangdong, southern Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao, and Southeast Asia, which are along the Maritime Silk Road, the Expo is also going to present a cultural feast on Chaoshan culture and Maritime Silk Road culture. There will be a celebration party for the 100th birthday of Rao Zongyi, who is an outstanding scholar, poet, calligrapher and painter from Chaoshan. Other events include Rao Zongyi Art Exhibition, Exhibition on Chaoshan People’s Entrepreneurship in Southeast Asia, East Guangdong’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition, Chaoshan Gourmet Festival, etc.
Started in 2008, the East Guangdong Overseas Chinese Expo is hosted by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and undertook by Shantou, Chaozhou, Jieyang and Shanwei in turn. Themed on “innovation drives to revitalize East Guangdong”, the 6th East Guangdong Overseas Chinese Expo embodies the characteristics of East Guangdong and lays stress on the demand of East Guangdong’s development.
