Travelers can now fly from Guangzhou to Rizhao in northeastern China in less than three hours, since flights between the two cities opened on January 21. The Rizhao Airport already had direct flights by Southern China Airlines and Shanghai Airlines to Shanghai, Dalian and Harbin.
Rizhao, which means "sunshine," is situated on the Shandong peninsula in Shandong province and faces Korea and Japan across the Yellow Sea to its east. The city features a beautiful coastline and temperate climates. It is a famous base for sailing training and competitions, and is the main producer of tea in north China.It was recognized by the United Nations as one of the most habitable cities in the world in 2009.
