Two new hospitals are expected to open in Shenzhen this year while more than 10 other projects to relocate and upgrade old hospitals as well as build new ones will kick off, offering residents more health care resources in a city where public hospitals are routinely packed with crowds.
The Shenzhen branch of the Cancer Hospital Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, located in Longgang District, and the Southern Medical University Shenzhen Hospital, in the Qianhai economic zone, will open this year, the city’s health and family planning commission said yesterday. The Shenzhen branch of the Cancer Hospital Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences will be the first hospital in the city to focus on tumor treatment.
Relocation or upgrading of Xinming Hospital, Julong Hospital, Shenzhen Sun Yat-sen Cardiovascular Hospital and Shenzhen Chronic Diseases Hospital is underway, while plans to build more hospitals, including a children’s hospital, are on the agenda, the commission said.
Last year, three hospitals, including Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, upgraded their facilities, while more than 20 other medical facilities completed projects.
