The International Expo of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road opens today in Donguan City, Guangdong Province. The Expo welcomed business associations and enterprises from 42 countries and territories.
“The International Expo aims at matching with national strategic development plan and further deepening the cooperation with countries along the Maritime Silk Road with principles of reciprocity and mutual development.” Hu Chunhua, the Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee said in his opening speech.
Hu added that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) had become the third largest trade partners and sources of investment of Guangdong, and also the second biggest investment market for Guangdong.
“Hopefully Guangdong can reinforce the connections with countries along the Maritime Silk Road in infrastructure construction and expand trade cooperation with these countries.” Hu said. “We should also develop bilateral investment, promote tourism and cultural cooperation and establish cooperation mechanism with our partners.”
According to the organizing committee, a total of 2536 booths have been booked by 1136 domestic enterprises, which exceeds 26.8 percent of the expectation. And more than 1,200 booths have been booked by foreign enterprises.
It is reported that 346 pieces of ancient porcelains excavated from the Nanhai No.1 sunken ship, and national treasure specialties from 42 countries will attract the visitors during the expo.
The Expo is divided into 5 exhibition areas. Achievements of investment cooperation, the development of Guangdong Maritime Silk Road, results of trade cooperation in featured products, tourism cooperation and e-commerce and trading across boarders will be showcased in these 5 areas respectively.
“The exhibition of e-commerce and trading across boarders is one of the impressive parts during the Fair.” A member of organizing committee said. “32 exhibitors will show us the general situation of e-commerce and new trend of trading across boarders.”
Some of Fortune 500 companies and multinational corporations, such as Samsung, LG and Charoen Pokphand Group also attend the Fair. (By Ken & Yan)
