Unfolding the traffic plan of Zhanjiang, you will clearly see a lot of highways and roads in planning and under construction. The highway network is linking ports and parks to counties and districts. Data show Zhanjiang's transport projects under construction this year have a total investment of 28.3 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 6.93 billion yuan. Zhanjiang is planning to build a better integrated transport network to bear the coastal city's dream of rising.
Huguang Expressway linking Shenchuan Boulevard to Port Highway was built up last year and will be fully open to traffic this October. The connection line of Haiwan Bridge is merely an epitome of Zhanjiang's strategy of "three rings and four accesses". As a key project of the strategy, construction of the first-class highway around Leizhou Peninsular has been commenced. This is also a key national strategic transport project as well as a key project under the province's and the city's "twelfth five-year" plans.
In the coming three to five years, Zhanjiang will arrange 46 major traffic infrastructure projects with a total investment of 137 billion yuan, focus on advancing the construction of the 300,000t two-way channel of Zhanjiang Port, Zhanjiang International Airport, Zhanjiang Beltway and the Maoming-Zhanjiang section of Shenzhen-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, and strive to bring the city's traffic pattern of "three rings and four accesses" into shape by 2016, thus forming a modern three-dimensional transport system involving sea, land and air transport.
