Guangzhou residents love to have dimsums for breakfast. They call this kind of breakfast morning tea. Every dish contains only 2-3 steam buns or dumplings. And people can enjoy many different kinds of dimsums for a breakfast. Many Guangzhou residents, most of which are aged people, go to morning tea restaurant very early every morning. They spend the whole morning there, drinking tea, having 1 to 2 dishes of dimsums and chatting with old friends.
As the meat price keeps going up for the past few months, most of the morning tea restaurants raised their dimsum prices.
In Dongxingshun Restaurant, Zhongshan Si Road, the prices of dimsums are raised by 0.5 to 1.5 yuan, and a dish of chopped pork ribs with soybean costs 8.5 yuan, up 2 yuan.
Instead of raising the dimsum price, some other restaurants choose to cancel the VIP discount or tips-free services.
The morning tea fans complained about the high price. An old fans said, his family of four used to spend 60 yuan for a morning tea, and now, 100.
Many residents now need to opt for some cheaper and less-meaty dimsums, such as steamed buns and noodles, for the meatballs and shrimp dumplings are too expensive.
