The Shenzhen Metro Line II project plan has won central government's approval recently. The first phase of this new line will run from Shekou Passenger Pier to Window of the World Theme Park and will open to traffic in Oct 1, 2010.

This section of line two is 13.4 km with 11 stops. They are: Shekou Passenger Pier, Sea World, Nanshui Road, Donggang Road, Zhaoshang Dong Road, Gongye Ba Road, Dengliang Road, Nanshan Commercial Center, Tech Park, Shahe Dong Road and Window of the World.

Metro passengers can transfer between Line I and II at the Window of the World stop. And according to Shenzhen's Long Term Metro Network Planning, the Line two later will be extended eastward, adding a section from Window of the World to Huaqiang Bei (city center).

The phase I project involved an input of 6.485 billion RMB, with 45 percent from the government, and 55 percent from bank loan.
