Officials announced on October 27 at the Guangfu Culture Development Forum that, after much deliberation, the Guangdong Arts and Crafts Trading Center and gold, diamond and jade exchanges will be based at the Oriental Wende Plaza, and that the Guangfu Culture Research Center, which is already based at the plaza, is expected to open soon.

The project will provide integrated functions of financial investment, auctioning and trading of cultural and arts products, and business offices. It will complement the world-renowned Wendu Calligraphy and Painting Street and eventually emerge as Guangzhou's Central Cultural District (CCD) and South China's largest culture-themed market. The Guangfu Culture Research Center has been listed as one of the top 10 landmark projects for the Guangzhou Culture, Commerce, Trade and Tourism Zone on Beijing Road.

According to Chen Xiongqiao, deputy director of the Guangzhou State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Committee, among the first group of enterprises involved in the program of "phasing out industrial enterprises to make way for service enterprises", 21 enterprises will be renovated on their existing land plots of 812,000 square meters. A creative industry park will also be built in support of Guangzhou's efforts to build a "city of creativity".

The Oriental Wende Plaza will open by the end of this year, and is set to become "the moon project" on Wende Road. The plaza is located at the interaction of North Wende Road, Guangzhou's cultural vein, and Wenming Road. With a combined gross floor area of 160,000 square meters, the project will comprise artists' apartments with the gross floor area of 68,000 square meters, offices for cultural industries with the gross floor area of 25,000 square meters, a commercial center with a gross floor area of 35,000 square meters, and a car park with more than 800 spaces.
