Jimei School Village in Xiamen is a place with a high concentration of educational institutions.
These primary to higher educational institutions have mainly been invested by Tan Kah Kee, a successful overseas Chinese businessman in Singapore, who returned to his hometown in Xiamen over a century ago when China had a fragile education system. Believing that knowledge was the foundation of a nation's renewal, Tan invested in building schools.
The architectural style of the village is unique, blending Western-style structures with traditional Chinese roofs, known as Kah Kee architecture. Students of generations have studied here, carrying forward Tan's vision of rejuvenating the nation through education.
