The Wudianshi Traditional Blocks in Quanzhou, China's Fujian Province, are often described as a living museum of architecture. With more than 130 historic buildings, the area preserves over 500 years of history.
The most striking elements are the red brick walls and swallowtail roof ridges, both signature features of Minnan-style houses. Each building has a story: ancestral halls are where overseas Chinese return to honor their roots, and villas showcase influences from Southeast Asia and Europe blended with local styles. Walking through Wudianshi’s alleys, one can sense how history, migration, and cultural exchange have shaped the community, feeling the enduring connection between it and the overseas Chinese.
