Torrential rains brought about Typhoon Wutip and seasonal monsoon conditions have affected tens of thousands of people in Huaiji county of Zhaoqing, Guangdong province.
As of noon on June 18, continuous heavy rainfall has affected approximately 300,000 residents of Huaiji County, and about 70,000 people have been relocated to safer areas, according to local authorities.
On a street in Huaiji, just after the floodwaters receded, an elderly woman was seen struggling to carry buckets of water up six flights of stairs. Wang Hanwen, a journalist from Zhaoqing Gaoyao Media Center, happened to pass by and, moved by the scene, immediately stepped in to help.
