On February 5, 2025, the eighth day of the Chinese New Year, Lengshui Village, Baitu Town, Gaoyao District, Zhaoqing City, ushered in a time-honored traditional event—the Tea and Fruit Festival.
As a unique folk event in Gaoyao, the Tea and Fruit Festival has a centuries-old history in which villagers make and share a variety of tea fruits (a traditional dim sum) to pray for good weather and abundant harvests in the Chinese New Year.
This festival not only attracts many tourists from outside the region to come and experience it, but it is also deeply loved by local villagers, showcasing the profound cultural heritage and unique local food charm of Gaoyao.
In the afternoon, the lively lion dance parade kicked off. As a symbol of traditional Chinese culture, the lion dance represents driving away evil spirits and avoiding disasters, making it auspicious. In the evening, a wonderful lion dance and pile-jumping performance will bring the atmosphere to a climax.
The lion dancers demonstrated their balance and skill on the high piles, and the agile lion dance was perfectly combined with the thrilling pile-jumping movements. It showed the integration of strength and art, won the applause of the audience, and brought a successful end to the Tea and Fruit Festival.
