Guangzhou Metro Group reported on May 27th that there were a total of 92,864 entries at stations of Guangdong's intercity railways on May 26th (from 0:00 to 24:00). Among them, the newly opened Guangzhou-Huizhou and Guangzhou-Zhaoqing intercity railways, which are part of the four-line intercity railway networks, saw a passenger flow of over 78,000, accounting for more than 80% of the total intercity traffic.
Detailed data shows that the Guangzhou-Huizhou intercity railway has 56,582 entries, with 32,273 tickets sold through the 12306 system and 24,309 through the multi-payment ticketing system for public transportation. The Guangzhou-Zhaoqing intercity railway saw 22,071 entries, with 10,782 tickets sold through the 12306 system and 11,289 through the multi-payment ticketing system for public transportation.
Nearly half of the passengers on the Guangzhou-Huizhou and Guangzhou-Zhaoqing intercity railways utilize the multi-payment ticketing system for public transportation ,entering stations by scanning metro QR codes or using transport cards. This system offers the convenience of boarding without purchasing the ticket in advance on the 12306 system and provides passengers with the experience of a "large-scale metro" in the Greater Bay Area.
