Guangzhou-Zhaoqing, Guangzhou-Huizhou Intercity Railways enhance service frequency

Starting from July 1, the Guangzhou-Zhaoqing and Guangzhou-Huizhou Intercity Railways began to use a new version of the operating chart, adding two new express stops at Guangzhou Lianhuashan Station (广州莲花山站) and Yunshan Station (云山站).

This adjustment aims to alleviate the pressure on the densely populated sections of the Guangzhou-Zhaoqing and Guangzhou-Huizhou Intercity Railways. Data shows that from May 26 to June 26, these two intercity railways collectively transported 2.259 million passengers, with the Guangzhou-Huizhou Intercity accounting for 72.5% of the total. The top three stations with traffic volume are Xipingxi Station, Panyu Station, and Changlong Station.

The adjustment will be implemented in two modes: weekdays and weekends. During weekdays, 87 trains will operate daily, an increase of 1 train from the current schedule. The average interval for express trains on the Guangzhou-Huizhou Intercity will be shortened from approximately 2 hours to 1 hour and 40 minutes. On weekends, 101 trains will operate daily, an addition of 15 trains, representing a 17% increase in overall transport capacity. The average interval for "express trains at major stations" on the Guangzhou-Huizhou Intercity will be reduced to 55 minutes, halving the current time.

To coincide with this change, Guangdong Intercity will deploy additional volunteers at stations and update the electronic screens with train numbers and schedules on the day the new timetable goes into effect.
