Great news! Travelling on GBA’s intercity railways like taking the metro

Starting from May 15, passengers can swipe the Guangzhou metro and bus QR code to take the Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway and the Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity Railway. This means passengers don't need to buy tickets in advance and can take the train anytime, just like they do when taking a metro.

The intercity railway multiple payment system now supports the Guangzhou Metro APP intercity railway QR code, national transportation smart card, Yang Cheng Tong (羊城通), Lingnan Pass (岭南通), and the various prefecture-level versions of Lingnan Pass in Qingyuan, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Dongguan, and Huizhou.

To use the Guangzhou APP intercity railway QR code, passengers need to upgrade the system to version 6.3.0 or above and complete online real-name registration in advance through the APP. Alternatively, they can bring their ID cards, passports, or Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents to the self-service center at any station of Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway, Guangzhou East Ring Intercity Railway, Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway, or Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity Railway.

To facilitate the trial operation of Guangzhou-Foshan South Ring and Foshan-Dongguan Intercity Railway, the ticket pre-sale period of Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway and Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity Railway has been adjusted to three days starting from May 13.

Also, the Guangzhou-Foshan South Ring (Foshan West Station-Panyu Station) and Foshan-Dongguan (Panyu Station-Dongguan West Station) Intercity Railways began trial operations on May 14 and will be put into operation soon.

When they open to traffic, they will be connected with the Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway (Foshan West Station-Zhaoqing Station) and Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity Railway (Dongguan West Station-Xiaojinkou Station).

By then, there will be a total of 39 stations, including five in Guangzhou, nine in Foshan, 12 in Dongguan, and seven in Huizhou. With a maximum speed of 200 km/h, the four intercity railways in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) will make it possible to travel from Guangzhou to Foshan and Dongguan's downtown areas within 30 minutes, and to other cities including Zhaoqing and Huizhou in an hour.
