On March 25, the Flower City Academy of Literature was officially established in Guangzhou's Yuexiu Park. It is expected to be a new cultural landmark and the most accessible place to encounter literary celebrities in Guangzhou.

At the launching ceremony, novelist and playwright Mai Jia, the author of Decoded, and Chen Xiaoming, a professor at Peking University, were appointed as co-deans. The academy also signed eight young writers and critics. These writers will complete their works with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) as the backdrop, and take part in local activities such as local field research and seminars.

Cai Chongda, one of the contracted writers, said that he would come to Guangzhou often to exchange and share literary ideas with other writers at the academy.
Meanwhile, the academy will organize reading and writing activities for teenagers, such as on-campus writers' gatherings and essay contests. It will also carry out a series of activities for the public in the fields of reading, literary appreciation, cultural and creative exchanges, cultural research, and studies.

According to Chen Xiaoming, the Flower City Academy of Literature will gather more writers and play a leading role in the GBA. It will bring together writers, readers and literary enthusiasts to share and appreciate literature.

In addition, various events have been held to celebrate the establishment of the academy, including the Flower City Literature Night, seminars, and writers' sharing meetings. At the Flower City Literature Night, the ten best books selected by Flower City Literature List were released. People also enjoyed original literature-themed performances, including dancing and singing, Cantonese opera, and recitals.
