Line drawing exhibition held in Guangzhou's CBD for free

The Joint Exhibition of Zhan Zhongxiao and Jin Cheng: Art of Line Drawing kicked off on the M floor of Guangzhou International Finance Center (IFC) on April 20, and will run through to May 26. 

The exhibition is open to the public for free, and you can visit it without a reservation. Two guided tours will be organized on April 23 and May 6 respectively, when the two artists will be present to communicate with audiences and share line drawing techniques and concepts.

Themed "One Line Two People", the exhibition features over seventy works from Zhan Zhongxiao's classic line drawing artworks and Jin Cheng's The Minimalist Girls series. Based on the art of line drawing, the exhibition will explore the development of traditional and contemporary art.

Zhan Zhongxiao is an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage line drawing technique. One of his artworks on display, Hu Guang Shan Shan (弧光闪闪) published in 1973, was once a line drawing model for teachers and students in eight major academies of art in China.

Jin Cheng, the Chairman of the Guangdong Cartoonists Association and the Guangzhou Cartoonists Association, is now an animation artist and publisher. He used to draw comic strips, and one of his classic works is the "Ming Girl" (明姑娘) which was the cover artwork of the Journal: Picture Stories, one of China's most influential art publications.

"Line drawing is a treasure of Chinese culture, with a history of thousands of years. It is the basis of all kinds of drawings and popular among the public," Ye Zhenghua, one of the curators said at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. "We hope more young people can pay attention to and feel the beauty of line drawing art, which is why we are having this exhibition at IFC, in the city's CBD."
