Ticket giveaways | Step into an artistic world of fairy tales on Children's Day

Have you ever dreamed of a magical world where the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Disney princesses all come to life? As International Children's Day approaches, Guangdong is set to host a series of delightful performances for children and their families. From ballet to concerts, these shows will transport audiences into a whimsical realm of fairy tales and music.

Ballet: Sleeping Beauty

The Guangzhou Ballet Theatre will present this performance, adapted from the fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty." Directed by Yoo Byung-hun, the artistic director of Universal Ballet in the Republic of Korea, this production will premiere at the Guangzhou Opera House from May 31 to June 1.

The highlight of the performance is the grand wedding of Princess Aurora and Prince Désiré, featuring beloved characters like Little Red Riding Hood, the Bluebird, and Puss in Boots. It breaks the boundaries of time and space, bringing fairy tale characters from different eras and different countries into the same vibrant celebration.

The Homecoming of Heroes: Children's Day Concert

This concert will feature music from animated films that have been a part of many childhoods, including "The Monkey King," "Nezha Conquers the Dragon King," "Where is Mama," "Shuke and Beita," "Calabash Brothers," and "The Three Monks." Incorporating rare ethnic percussion instruments and animated video accompaniment, this performance will showcase the diverse world of Chinese fairy tales.

Music & dance parent-child theatre: The Nutcracker

Based on German writer E.T.A. Hoffmann’s fairy tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King," the show incorporates the plots of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s classical ballet The Nutcracker. The story follows Nana and her friends, the Nutcracker and the Candy Fairy, as they embark on an adventure through a dream world. Their journey takes them through Ice Cream Town, Tanghulu City, Cookie Desert, and the banks of the Honey River, culminating in a final battle against the Mouse King at the Chocolate Castle.
