If you're a cat lover or an art enthusiast, Shenzhen has a special exhibition for you. "Take a Catnap: Cat-Themed Printmaking Exhibition by China Printmaking Museum" is currently underway in Shenzhen and will last for two months. You can enjoy an array of print artworks, and also encounter a few of the museum's resident cats!
Cats have always been a beloved subject in art, serving as muses for countless artists. In the hands of different creators, cats come to life in myriad forms, such as free-spirited, elegant, lazy, and independent. In this exhibition, visitors will see portrayals of cats by various global printmakers from around the world, each interpreting the harmony between humans and nature through their unique styles, techniques, and printmaking methods.
Meanwhile, the exhibition hall is adorned with cat-themed elements, inviting visitors into a colorful world of printmaking guided by these feline friends.
What makes this exhibition even more charming is its preface, written from the perspective of a cat living in the museum. "'Take a catnap' usually refers to a short but refreshing sleep. You often see us cats dozing off in the sunlight, which is where the saying comes from," it reads. "This is also the theme of this exhibition. I hope this exhibition allows you to 'take a catnap' in the world of printmaking, letting a brief rest smooth out the wrinkles of life and lighten your load."
