Musical: Anna Karenina-Chinese Version

Based on Leo Tolstoy's novel, the Chinese version of the musical Anna Karenina will be the grand finale of the Guangzhou Opera House's Women Art Festival this year. It was produced by the creative team of the original Russian musical and will discuss the philosophical propositions of love and death, freedom and fate in more than 40 songs in the genres of classical, pop, and rock.

Children's theater: Le Petit Prince

Adapted from the original novel by French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the drama Le Petit Prince will discuss the essence of love and the relationship between people and the world. Composed of Chinese and French artists, the creative team of the play hopes to evoke cross-cultural and cross-temporal reflections and resonances among the audience.

English monologueRevel's World of Shakespeare

The monologue Revel's World of Shakespeare was adapted from Joseph Graves' personal experiences. Mr. Graves is also the director of the play. In the monologue, he will play multiple roles alone, performing a grand drama depicting life from childhood to late adulthood. The show will immerse the audience in a story that blends poetry, drama, and the ups and downs of life.

Opera: Carmen

The opera Carmen is based on the novel of the same name by Prosper Mérimée, and was completed in the autumn of 1874. It is Bizet's last work and also the most frequently performed opera in the world today. The opera tells a tragic story set against a lively backdrop through music, portraying the complex character of the gypsy girl Carmen as joyful, frank, and full of wildness. The opera shows the cruelty and beauty of life, and discusses the philosophical propositions of love and death.

Time: 20:00, March31-April 1, 2023

Venue: Cultural Center Grand Theatre in Longgang District, Shenzhen (深圳龙岗区文化中心大剧院)

Dance drama: Wing Chun

The dance drama tells a story that takes place on the set of the film "Wing Chun". It shows in parallel the stories of the film's protagonist Ip Man promoting Wing Chun culture in Hong Kong SAR and the film crew pursuing their dreams in Shenzhen.

In addition, the dance drama integrates two national intangible cultural heritages, Wing Chun and Gambiered Canton Gauze. It will also present the other four major martial arts schools, including Tai Chi, Southern Praying Mantis, Bagua Palm, and Baji Quan.

Time: 20:00, March 29-31, 2023
