A new cultural landmark in Guangzhou officially opened to the public

On November 30, 2023, the new venue of the Guangzhou Museum of Art (GZMA) in Haizhu District officially opened its doors to the public. Artists, experts, and scholars from the art and museum fields nationwide, as well as officials from 27 consulates in Guangzhou, including those from the US, the UK, Russia, Italy, and more, attended the opening ceremony on November 29.

The GZMA was previously situated by Luhu Lake in Yuexiu District and was opened in 2000, developed from the Guangzhou Art Museum established in 1957.

To prepare for the inauguration of the new venue, 120 artists contributed 133 pieces of artwork, enriching the museum's collection.

At present, visitors can see 1,100 pieces from GZMA's collections, more than 200 artworks from other museums, and approximately 500 documentary objects displayed across 21 exhibition halls and areas of the new venue. The exhibits include a wide array of artworks such as Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, cartoons, sculptures, and watercolors, spotlighting artistic masterpieces of various periods in Chinese history.

Furthermore, the integration of multimedia and digital technology will become a standout highlight of the museum. A digital exhibition on the fourth floor centers around masterpieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties, featuring interactive games that convey intriguing knowledge and stories behind the artworks.

Additionally, an "Interactive Wall of Masterpieces" on the second floor classifies and showcases exhibits by historical periods. Visitors can touch the interactive wall to view their preferred artworks, zoom in to observe details, and share them with friends.
