The Lantern Festival, which is on the 15th day of the first lunar month and falls on February 5 this year, marks the final day of Spring Festival celebrations. To celebrate the upcoming Lantern Festival, a series of festivities will be held in Guangdong province, such as lantern shows, temple fairs, and fireworks shows. Come and have fun together!
Lantern shows
Lanterns are the main aspect of the Lantern Festival. In Guangdong, various lantern shows and colorful lighting will set off a festive vibe to welcome the festival. For instance, Guangzhou Cultural Park will hold the 2023 Lantern Show, featuring 20 lantern sets featuring traditional Lingnan elements.

Temple fairs
Many temple fairs gathering a variety of elements such as intangible cultural heritage, bazaar, and cultural products will invite visitors to celebrate the Lantern Festival together.

Fireworks shows
What could be more cheerful than watching a fireworks show? For this year's Lantern Festival, many places in the province will hold a fireworks party, bringing people an unforgettable sight as fireworks explode in the sky and fill it with colors and light.

Flower exhibitions
Recently, many parks and scenic areas have launched flower exhibitions. On February 5, Yuntai Garden of Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area will hold a Lantern Festival-themed event, inviting the public to enjoy a tulip exhibition featuring six floral artworks, 100,000 tulips, and three new varieties of tulips. In addition, visitors can also guess lantern riddles, write wish cards, and make palace lanterns. Meanwhile, Jiulongquan Square in the scenic area will also hold riddle-guessing activities and set up a bazaar on a float.

Fashion show
During the Lantern Festival, the Mingchun Valley in Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area will join hands with Mohua (Hou Xiaolin), one of Guangdong's top ten designers, and her team to hold a fashion show featuring intangible cultural heritage.
The show will present a visual feast of several sets of dresses that combine intangible cultural heritage with the stories of Baiyun Mountain, showing the integration of traditional craftsmanship and modern art.

2023 Guangzhou Chinese New Year Concert
On the night of the Lantern Festival, a concert featuring both Chinese and foreign music will be held at the Xinghai Concert Hall. Conductor Liu Shun, percussionist Zheng Yu, gaohu player Yu Lefu, as well as other outstanding musicians, will perform together to send New Year wishes to the audience.
