French musical concert "Les Misérables" set to delight Guangzhou audiences

Great news for musical enthusiasts! From November 24 to 26, the French musical concert Les Misérableswill grace the stage at the Guangzhou Opera House.

Penned by Victor Hugo, the novel Les Misérables portrays social issues through the trials and tribulations of Jean Valjean and many other characters. The first musical adaption of this masterpiece premiered in Paris, France, in 1980, featuring renowned songwriters and lyricists, including Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil. Up to now, Les Misérables has evolved into one of the most beloved musicals, captivating over 70 million audience members across 44 countries and regions.

Les Misérables is one of the representatives of the sung-through musical. The upcoming presentation of the concert at the Guangzhou Opera House will adhere to the original French musical adaptation, with performers delivering 37 iconic songs from the original musical alongside a live symphony orchestra.

To restore the authenticity of 19th-century French costumes, the production crew enlisted a professional team of costume designers, dedicating 12 months to tailoring over 200 costumes for the cast.
