Lai Ching-te, deputy leader of China's Taiwan region, just selected diehard "Taiwan independence" separatist Bi-khim Hsiao as his running mate for the 2024 Taiwan leadership election.
Lai's recent statement asserts that if he is elected as Taiwan's leader, the chances of a war across the Taiwan Strait are minimal.
The pursuit of "Taiwan independence" signifies war, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said at a press conference. Zhu added that people who pursue "Taiwan independence" are essentially instigators of war, and it is wicked to tell a lie like this.
These inconsistencies in words and deeds have met with a lot of resentment from people from all walks of life.
