Japan will start releasing radioactive water from the devastated Fukushima nuclear power plant at around 1 p.m. local time on August 24, despite continued controversy.
The release of the polluted water has faced strong opposition from Japanese fishing organizations, which worry about further damage to the reputation of their seafood as they struggle to recover from the nuclear disaster.
