The first of its kind in China, Guangdong Emergency Management Office Website (www.gdemo.gov.cn), unveiled a new face today (Dec 18)聽at the website's one year anniversary also celebrating the new face unveiling. Li Ronggen, vice governor and deputy director general of Guangdong Emergency Management Committee (GDEMC) addressed the celebration. And Luo Ou, Deputy Secretary General of the People's Government of Guangdong Province and Director of the Provincial Anti-smuggling Office, hosted the celebration.
Li noted that since the official launch of the website on December 18, 2007, the website has served its purpose as the authorized media in contingency and an information access open to the public. At the launch, Governor Huang Huahua and also the director general of GDEMC expressed the hope that the website shall be efficient in operation and sufficient to its purpose as it gets more people to use it. Thanks to the expertise of the management team, the website has been hailed as immediate, informative and users friendly. The growing credibility and reputation marked by the climbing click-through rate far exceeded expectations on a first design and the website has established itself as the digital name-card of Guangdong's emergency management. The website has been widely recognized for its important role in contingency as 2008 has seen growing new challenges in emergency management. Li added that the provincial leadership is satisfied with what the website has managed to achieve in one year's time.
And it is time to get ahead of the changes and update the design, Li said. It is a window to Guangdong's emergency management teams, who are equipped with "the scientific outlook on development" and strive to be the pace setter in the nation's emergency management. Li pointed out that given what we have achieved over the past year, the new website can definitely lift up itself to meet higher demands to come. That means, the website shall always keep pace with the growing demands from the public. Innovation and vision are essential to a better service. Then he called for the closer cooperation with partner departments for information updates and asked the technical team to secure a safe, standardized and systematic daily operation. Li said the new design provides a good chance for all related departments and organizations to review their work, get modules and learn lessons. He expected the joint efforts will lead to a better performance of Guangdong's emergency management despite the new challenges to come.
