The Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed rail line, a 502-km line linking three special economic zones in China, started trial operations yesterday.

The railway is expected to open at the end of the month and to boost economic development in the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta. Tickets are expected to cost between 160 yuan (US$26) and 190 yuan.

Construction of the line began in October 2008.
