39 sizable cultural projects planned

Guangzhou is set to embark upon another round of massive development of cultural infrastructure since the Asian Games. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period from 2011 to 2015, Guangzhou will build 39 major cultural infrastructure projects, including a new facility for Guangzhou Museum and Guangzhou Art Gallery.

The projects include a new facility for Guangzhou Library (new), the South Nanyue Palace Museum, a small theater for Guangzhou Ballet, Guangzhou Literary and Artistic Creation Center, Guangzhou Cultural Center (Taikoo Hui), Guangzhou International Media Port, the Migrant Workers Museum, Guangzhou Museum, Guangzhou Art Gallery, Guangzhou Cultural Galley (Guangzhou Modern Art Gallery), Guangzhou Science Museum, the Canton Opera Art Museum, the Southern Han Dynasty Mausoleums Museum, Guangzhou Maritime Museum, Guangzhou National Archives (Phase II Project), South Guangdong Sages Hall, Shisanhang Museum (including the relics showroom and a Shisanhang Foreigners Hall), the Cultural Center of Guangzhou Daily, Sun Yat-sen Cultural Center, Dongyuan Square, Lingnan Cultural Garden, the restoration project for Damazhan & Xiaomazhan Academy, the Exhibition Center of Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Nanyue Kingdom History Research and Protection Center.
