With its construction entering into the final stage of acceptance, Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway is expected to open to traffic on Mar. 30th, according to the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

Travelers are allowed to book their train tickets online or dialing 12306 from 3pm on March 29. Tickets are also available from the ticket counter or ticket machine at any train station.

Traveling through the mid-west sector of the Pearl River Delta, the intercity rail is an important transportation route for these three cities. The newly constructed track length is about 80 kilometers. Operating at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour, the train will start at Foshan West Station and will stop at 10 stations along its route. It would take passengers only half an hour to travel form Zhaoqing to Foshan. At the same time, the time of the trip from Zhaoqing to Guangzhou is expected to be shortened within one hour, making it more convenient for citizens in Guangzhou to travel to Dinghu Mountain and other nearby scenic spots.

According to the Commission, as an important East-West trunk line in the Intercity Rail Transit Network in the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Rail, on the one hand, will promote the transmission of resources and talents and economic communication between these three places; on the other hand, it will improve the transportation network in the Pearl River Delta and accelerate the industry upgrading, thus laying a solid foundation for the sustainable and rapid development in the Pearl River Delta.

Official website shows the whole trip cost from Guangzhou to Zhaoqing is 65RMB. The whole journey takes nearly 2 hours. Authority says there will be fewer stops after more trains put into service, which is expected to reduce more time on the journey.
