If you come to visit Jiangmen, you don't want to miss these two famous cultural roads: Kuiwei road (葵尾路) and Lianping road (莲平路). They form part of the overseas Chinese historical and cultural block—Laojie (老街).
Laojie is home to a large number of characteristic buildings of overseas Chinese arcades with a history of more than 100 years. Those arcades are situated along the Jiangmen River, extending inward from the river bank, which is quite large-scale and spectacular. Many films were shot in this block, such as the "Fireflies in the Sun".
During the Spring Festival holiday, arcades along the Kuiwei road were lit up by lights. A special food street wa set up during the holiday, serving all kinds of delicacies, including coffee, milk tea, Shunde fish skin, Hong Kong style snacks, Thai chicken feet and ice cream.
