"Museum in Shoebox" exhibition shows creativity of Guangdong teenagers

If you had a chance to build a museum, how would you design it? On International Museum Day (May 18), the Small Box Big World "Museum in Shoebox" Design Works Exhibition opened at the Guangdong Museum, showcasing 100 mini museums created by teenagers in Guangdong Province.

The exhibits are basically made of shoe boxes, mainly featuring the characteristics of Guangdong's culture. The exhibition takes the concept of "Museum Town", and audiences can see different themed shoebox museums in its seven districts, including history, art, natural resources, folklore, science, and food districts.

Last summer, Guangdong Museum launched the "Museum in Shoebox" activity to solicit design works from primary and middle school students across the province, attracting over 1,000 participants. One hundred winning works, with shoe boxes as the basic materials, are on display in the exhibition, in a bid to present and explore the infinite possibilities of museums from the perspective of the younger generation.

In addition, May 18 coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Netherlands. In celebration of the anniversary, the exhibition has opened a special Dutch-style section. In addition to the shoebox museums with Dutch elements, visitors can also enjoy exhibits such as Miffy Bunny merchandise and traditional Dutch clogs.
