Nearly 100 prominent figures from Chinese and French political, cultural, artistic, media and academic circles attended a youth dialogue on Chinese modernization in Paris on May 5.

The event, hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the Sciences Po Alumni, the Paris Intercollegiate Committee of the United Nations (CINUP), and Jinan University, was held in Paris, France.

Guests, including Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, Jack Lang, former French culture minister, Sylvie Bermann, former French ambassador to China, representative of the Sciences Po Alumni Hervé Machenaud and CINUP president Charles Jeanne, attended the event and delivered speeches.

Since the beginning of this year, Shen said, the young French cultural envoys to CMG have participated in research activities related to Chinese modernization and experienced how it is practiced in China.

CMG will continue to build a dialogue platform for communication, so that more young people can feel the unique charm of China in the new era and the vitality of the Chinese nation in building a modern civilization, he added.

Shen said he hoped young people from China and France will continue and enrich the deep friendship between the two countries and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Speaking at the event, Lang said two young French cultural envoys invited by CMG had experienced the integration of China's traditional cultural protection and modern scientific and technological development.

"It is hoped that more young people from the two countries will use dialogue as a medium to jointly deepen the France-China friendship, and promote exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations in the world," said Lang.

During her speech, Bermann said the exchanges between the young people from the two countries have played an irreplaceable role in promoting the in-depth and lasting development of France-China relations and enhancing the friendship and mutual trust between the two peoples.

"I believe that this dialogue will help the young people of France have a better understanding of today's China and the world significance of Chinese modernization," she said.

Following the research conducted by young Chinese and French scholars and cultural envoys, a report on Chinese modernization was jointly released at the event by CMG Europe, China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy and Jinan University.

At the event, CMG and the Sciences Po Alumni also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on their cooperation. The two sides reached an agreement on cooperation in fields such as resource exchange of experts, media cooperation, joint research and release of academic results.

At a round table dialogue session, young scholars and cultural envoys from the two countries discussed Chinese modernization from the perspective of youth, believing that the dialogue deepened mutual understanding and recognition. They also said that Chinese modernization has not only benefited China, but also provided more opportunities for the world.
