The 136th Canton Fair reached its successful conclusion on November 4 in Guangzhou, setting a new record for the number of international buyers in attendance.
Number of offline and online international buyers reaches a historical new high
As of November 3, the fair welcomed 253,000 international buyers from 214 countries and regions, marking a 2.8% increase from the previous session and surpassing 250,000 for the first time in history.
Among the attendees, buyers from Belt and Road countries accounted for over 60%, totaling 165,000 individuals, a 3.7% rise. The Middle East saw the fastest growth in buyer numbers, with 34,000 attendees, a 32.6% increase. There was also a significant uptick in buyers from Europe and the United States, with 54,000 attendees, an 8.2% increase.
The online platform also operated smoothly throughout the fair, with approximately 3.75 million products uploaded to the Canton Fair official website, attracting 450,000 online international buyers from 224 countries and regions. A total of 986 live presentations were conducted, covering 32,000 viewers.
Import and export enterprises reap substantial benefits
Export intent transaction volumes of the Fair this time reached $24.95 billion, a 1% increase compared with the previous episode. Transactions with Belt and Road countries accounted for more than half of the total, while traditional European and American markets also saw growth.
Exhibitors commonly expressed that this episode's international buyers had clearer purchasing objectives and stronger cooperation intentions, with the expectation of more transactions following on-site factory visits and in-depth discussions.
The import section of the fair was also highly fruitful, with 730 companies from 49 countries and regions participating, of which Belt and Road countries accounted for 65.5%, and RCEP member countries accounted for 33%. Enterprises from Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and other delegations reached the intent to cooperate with Chinese companies, paving the way for their products to enter the Chinese market swiftly. Delegations from Türkiye, the Republic of Korea, Egypt, and others reported significant gains and have already confirmed their participation in the next session.
Innovative, Green and Digital Products as Highlights
Innovative products were widely favored at this episode of the Fair, showcasing the development achievements of new productive forces with a continuous stream of new products, increasing technological content, and brand value.
The fair featured 1.15 million new products, 1.04 million green products, and 1.11 million products with independent intellectual property rights. Digital, intelligent, and green products were particularly eye-catching and well-received by international buyers.
Following the closure of this episode of the Fair, the online platform will continue to operate as usual, welcoming ongoing attention from exhibitors and buyers.
