5 Guangzhou Metro lines to extend service hours for Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival is just around the corner. According to Guangzhou Metro, during this mini-break, the average daily passenger flow will reach about 5.8 million from June 3 to 5 and 8.9 million on June 2. It is worth noting that Line 1, 2, 3 (the north extension included), 5, and 7 will operate for one more hour on June 5.

To make it easier for residents to travel and commute, the Metro capacity on June 2 will be no less than that of regular working days. The express trains of Line 14 will be replaced with regular trains from 12 o'clock midday to 8 p.m. The capacity from June 3 to 5 will be no less than that of regular weekends.

Moreover, during this 3-day break, each line will have 1 to 2 spare trains to ease the flow when necessary.

Due to the simultaneity of daily commuting and outbound passenger flow, many lines will see an earlier and longer evening peak on June 2.
