Guangdong enters best viewing season for fireflies and where to see

At about 8 pm on the evening of May 10, over 300 cameras were waiting quietly for  fireflies near the grassland in South China National Botanical Garden (SCNBG) in Guangzhou.

Half an hour later, subtle glows began to rise over the lawn and danced about in the darkness.

Watching fireflies is a pastime on summer nights, and Guangdong has entered the best viewing season.

The grassland in the Cycad Garden of the SCNBG is one of the best places to record the beautiful fireflies night view with professional photography equipment.

According to the garden staff, the best viewing time is from 7 to 9 pm. For the convenience of tourists,the deadline for admission to the SCNBG has been adjusted to 7:30 pm in May

The garden reminds tourists to abide by the garden rules and maintain a comfortable environment for these beautiful creatures.

In addition, other urban parks in downtown Guangzhou for firefly watching include Tianhe Park and Baiyun Mountain.
