In the Year of the Dragon, why not see some real dragons?
A Guangzhou wildlife park may have the closest thing we have to mythical dragons, the Komodo dragons, now moving to a new, specially designed home.
Picture a creature from a monster movie: a Komodo dragon, nearly 3 meters long, with skin rough and studded with pearl-like scales, lying in wait for curious visitors.
Although calling it a "dragon" stretches the imagination, these giants, descendants of dinosaurs, represent the largest lizards alive today.
With only 3,500 left worldwide, the park's success in breeding 25 offspring is a significant step towards conserving these magnificent creatures, now thriving in their new environment.
