GBA sees robust growth in performing arts industry in summer holiday


During the summer holiday this year, the performing arts industry of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) has picked up momentum. Famous singers and bands, including Alan Tam, Jacky Cheung, Mayday, Yoga Lin, and WUTIAOREN, have held concerts in the GBA.

In the first half of 2023, a total of 193,300 commercial performances were staged in China, an increase of 400.86 percent compared with last year, according to the data released by the China Association of Performing Arts. The number of audiences reached 62,236,600, up over 10 times from last year.

Hundreds of concerts, Livehouses, and music festivals have been held both in Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the first half of the year. The two cities rank among the top three in the country in terms of the number of concerts. Some venues in Shenzhen are already scheduled for next year.
